Rachel is a Senior Yoga Teacher (E-RYT500, RPYT, YACEP, Lvl 2 Yoga Aus.), Pilates Instructor, Lecturer, Mentor and Doula.
Fun, flowing and nurturing is how Rachel would describe her teaching style. Practicing since her teens, Rachel’s relationship with yoga grew upon discovering that there was so much more to the practice than stretching and flexibility. Her desire to increase her knowledge saw her undertake various teacher trainings in several styles, including vinyasa, restorative, chair, yin and family yoga.
Specialising in pre and post-natal yoga, Rachel is a well-respected teacher and teacher of teachers and her nurturing style lends itself well to those seeking a calm and gentle practice. Rachel is also a qualified Doula, supporting women off the mat during their pregnancy, birthing and mothering journey.
‘After a challenging experience with my first labour and birth I decided to really educate and look after myself the second time around and commit to a regular prenatal yoga practice. After experiencing firsthand the difference between a ‘yoga’ pregnancy and a non yoga pregnancy I realised just how big an impact yoga can make during this time. My yoga practice helped me feel strong, physically and mentally, it felt great to be part of a community of like minded women and it made my recovery so much quicker.
After enjoying Pilates for a few years I went on to train to be an instructor. Yoga and Pilates complement each other so well and I’m excited to now be teaching both modalities. Both can offer great preparation for birth and afterwards to support the challenges of motherhood.
I want people to know that yoga and Pilates is for everyone and I like to offer variations and modifications to suit the individual rather than a case of one size fits all. I am also very passionate about supporting pre and postnatal women both on and off the mat by teaching, birthing workshops and education and as a Doula.
It is an honour to be part of the journey with expecting and new mothers and supporting them throughout their pregnancy, birth and beyond.
When I’m not teaching you’ll find me at a live gig, drinking coffee, hanging out with my family or training for some crazy endurance event.’
