Tonaya Rautman is a an AHPRA-registered psychologist and holds a Master of Psychology (Clinical) Tonaya brings to GLOW her skills in working with children and young people, providing psychological therapy and counselling. Tonaya has experience across a range of settings including private practice and school-based practice with children and families
Tonaya works with children and young people across a range of presentations particularly where they affect family life, school engagement, friendships or the child/young person’s own self-view and include:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Emotional regulation difficulties
- Social difficulties
- Behavioural challenges
- Academic struggles
Tonaya has experience in working with young people navigating complex family systems using evidence-based approaches such as:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and
- Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
Tonaya approaches behaviour through a functional and contextual lens, considering the relationships, environments and developmental factors that shape how a young person presents. Rather than targeting behaviour in isolation, she assesses what each behaviour may be communicating or achieving for the child e.g. emotional regulation, unmet needs, or difficulty coping in a particular context. This perspective informs Tonaya’s systematic approach to intervention, working collaboratively with parents, caregivers, and schools via direct work with the young person, parent-focused work, or a combination of both.
Away from the clinic, Tonaya can usually be found out running, in the kitchen baking a sweet treat or spending time with her two dogs.
